Community Energy

Working with communities to address heat and energy challenges

We work with communities and energy partners on key system challenges across energy and heating in urban, rural, and off-grid locations. Our aim is to improve the lives of communities that experience heat reliability and affordability issues, as well as those seeking to move away from volatile fossil fuel systems towards low carbon solutions.

Supporting communities to grow and thrive with low carbon energy.

Working with community energy partners and through dedicated funded schemes, our teams provide expertise in areas such as renewable energy and district heating systems.

We work with community groups, local authorities, housing associations, charities and the private sector to bring technical, regulatory and economic expertise in renewable energy, low carbon heat and district heating solutions. We engage in projects and funded programmes that enable communities to initiate energy programmes in their towns or villages, or to work with clients who own, operate, or wish to establish low carbon heat projects within communities. Our experience is extensive and varied;  working with Scottish Government to deliver national programmes, to regional funded and private projects in rural towns and villages.

Community energy funding

We are able to source and apply for funding to support community energy programmes and initiatives (subject to funding availability and criteria). We either take the lead to deliver funded projects, or work in partnership with community organisations in a technical capacity.

Feasibility studies

Providing clear analysis and guidance on proposed community energy projects, and the steps required to achieve desired outcomes.

Technoeconomic assessments

Undertaking renewable and low carbon technology assessments, and the economic impact of suitable options, providing an appraisal to communities advising them on the best energy solutions.

Community engagement

Communicating with communities is a vital step in getting local energy projects off the ground. As part of our projects, we are regularly involved in communications such as attending community sessions and events, promotional literature, website information and media engagement.

The works become more complicated than envisioned but you were excellent and took it all in your stride. You went over and above to keep the wards operational when we turned the heating off. Thank you all again for your help.

We were delighted to partner with Reheat on the sourcing and installation of our biomass boiler. The complexity of powering a distillery with biomass was something that Reheat tackled with expertise and energy. We are delighted with the outcome and ongoing support from Reheat.
